Dragon Age- The Veilguard is getting a prequel in the form of an audio drama podcast-

If you’ve ever heard the old radio dramas based on Sherlock Holmes stories you’ll know the joy of listening to actors crisply enunciate a conversation while accompanied by a soundscape of footsteps crunching on gravel. Expect something similar except with more arrows twanging and spells being whooshy in Dragon Age: Vows & Vengeance, an audio drama in podcast form being produced as part of the build-up to Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

A prequel to the game’s story, Vows & Vengeance is about a retired thief searching for her lover in the Fade, with seven of the series’ eight episodes also highlighting a guest star companion from the videogame. Harding, for instance, the much-loved dwarf scout from Inquisition, will co-star in episode two. Based on the teaser, we can expect to h…

Drive like a maniac for fun and profit in the Epic Store’s next free game-

After putting the Destiny 2 Legacy Collection up for grabs for a week, the Epic Games Store appears to have drifted back into a daily rhythm of free games. Today’s offering is Art of Rally, a stylized top-down racing game from the maker of Absolute Drift.

Superficially, Art of Rally is an arcade racer, but it offers a surprising amount of challenge for those who want to switch off the driver assist options and give ‘er. Rally fans will also dig the impressive selection of cars from the 1960s to the ’80s, including the infamous Group B cars that had a brief, exciting, and incredibly dangerous run through the mid-’80s before being banned by the FIA after a series of major accidents and deaths.

It’s not Project Cars, but even with driving aids enabled Art of Rally is a tricky b…

I finally bought the massive 4K OLED gaming monitor I’ve been fiending for, and I couldn’t be happier-

Last year, a Prime Day deal on a monitor caught my eye, and I vowed to myself that if I ever had a little extra cash to burn (and if it went on sale again), I’d treat myself to it. The Aorus FO48U is a 48-inch 4K 120Hz beast of an OLED gaming monitor and exactly the last thing I needed to make my little office/gamer dad den complete.

I’ve been in the market for something to put into my home office solely for gaming, as I currently do all my work and gaming on a really nice 32-inch ROG 4K gaming monitor. I wanted something larger to act as a TV as well to pull me away from my desk after hours to play games or stream movies to help wind me down from a day writing about smelling in VR.

I’ve never owned an OLED gaming monitor before, but whenever on…

Hunt- Showdown is going offline for 48 hours to prepare for its biggest update ever-

Hunt: Showdown is undergoing a major change next week as it transitions into Hunt: Showdown 1896, featuring an upgraded engine, overhauled UI, big changes to the meta, and an all-new map—the first in three years. That’s the good news. The bad news is that a big update means some big downtime, and Hunt: Showdown will be unavailable for two solid days beginning tomorrow.

“This is it, Hunters,” developer Crytek tweeted. “We are mere days from the launch of Hunt: Showdown 1896, and as noted in July, Hunt: Showdown servers are going dark for 48 hours starting Tuesday, August 13th from 7pm CEST (1 pm ET).

“This means the game will be unavailable on any platform as we ready Mammon’s Gulch for your much anticipated arrival. Thank you for your understanding…

In just two years, ChatGPT users have doubled to 200 million weekly users, fast approaching Reddit’s user figures-

If you’ve ever wondered “What plant is this?” or “Why does my dog look like that?”, you’ve probably thought about testing out ChatGPT. If you have tried it in the last week, you will have joined 1.9999 million others (give or take), according to recent information.

According to Axios (via TweakTown), ChatGPT owner OpenAI claims that its chatbot has grown from 100 million weekly active users in 2022 to 200 million in 2024. To put these astronomical figures into perspective, Reddit, one of the world’s biggest groupings of geeks, enthusiasts, and answers to all the nonsense questions you have throughout the day, is said to sit at around 260 million users a week.

This is not only a sign of how much the AI chatbot has grown but the internet as a whole. At its very peak, MySpace, …

Indigenous group demands Final Fantasy 14 remove Far Northern Attire DLC-

The Saami Council, a non-governmental organization representing the Sámi people of Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Russia, are calling on Square Enix to remove the Far Northern Attire DLC from Final Fantasy 14. The council’s concern “is not about sensitivity or whether the depiction is appropriate,” it said in a statement, but rather that the items depicted in the DLC are “Sámi cultural property,” and are infringing upon its rights.

“Our cultural property rights are not theoretical,” Saami Council president Áslat Holmberg said in a statement. “They are protected and protectable under intellectual property laws, which are generally harmonised throughout the world. Square Enix, as a media company, is highly aware of intellectual property laws and has no excuse for …

FF14 player scores 100 wins in Fall Guys crossover in under a week, just by being really dang good at it-

Final Fantasy 14’s Fall Guys event is, uh, a crossover that exists in a game. I’ve already made my feelings clear on the disturbing bisected Fall Guys hat, but it’s also got some pretty weird netcode wonkiness.

I’ve done a spot of Savage raiding so I’m used to this kind of stuff, but for your average joe, the swap from mostly-forgiving dungeon telegraphs to barging into snowballs ’cause you know they’re not actually there anymore? That’s enough to give anyone whiplash.

That makes one of the game’s achievements, “It’s a Blunderful Life IV”, borderline unachievable without weeks of grinding. To get the achievement and its associated title “King/Queen Bean”, you need to win 100 games of Blunderville. Which, as mentioned, is really freakin’ hard. Which is why someone do…
